About the event

Bye Louis are back at QUARRY on Friday the 26th of April with a couple of their favourite performers and a brand new EP. We hope you can join us. Advance tickets are £5 plus booking fee, or it’s pay as you feel on the door.

The show coincides with the release of 'Your Heart in a Labrador's Mouth', a five-track EP that will be played live in full alongside songs from a new album currently being written.

The night will also feature two of Bye Louis’ favourite artists: compère extraordinaire, poet, comedian and feminist hero Joan Cooper Snark, and the inconceivably prolific underground pop icon Claire Welles.

Kieran from Bye Louis:

I first saw Alice (Joan Cooper Snark) perform at one of Mooncup  Theatre’s Scran and Scratch nights in 2022 at Quarry. (Where else?) And  she was so great, so funny, effortlessly smart, and clearly just a  really lovely person. Truly herself. Since then, we’ve all seen her  completely come into her own across loads of spaces and events, but  primarily for us it’s been at the Strike A Pose nights where we’ve seen  Alice gain a sort of local celebrity status. I don’t think I know anyone  who doesn’t love her work. She’s amazing.

Claire Welles has been this kind of para-presence throughout much of  my time making music in Liverpool. The first Bye Louis release was on an  annual charity compilation cassette put out by Emotion Wave, and the  previous year’s compilation featured Claire’s song ‘Esther Greenwood’,  which I loved and once played with gushing enthusiasm on my Melodic  Distraction radio show. Since then I’ve seen her perform at loads of  local gigs alongside friends and idols, and I’m so glad we’re finally  going to play together at the same night.

We’re excited to finally release our EP, which has been some time in  the making, but we also can’t wait to play our new songs to an audience  for the first time. It’s fitting that we’ll be doing this at Quarry  because we’ve been writing and experimenting in the space for a few  months now. We’re all involved in projects that center on this space and  we feel so supported by the community around the venue as well as the  Quarry team. It feels like home.

Hope to see you there! xx
